So I just swapped some Bones Red Bearings in for the stock bearings on my board and, I have to say, I was a little bit disappointed. There's no question they were an improvement, but given the reviews they get on Amazon I was expecting a whole new skating experience. That I didn't get. But the Big Zigs on the other hand: whoah!! First of all, they're huge. Knowing the size is one thing, but seeing them on the board is a whole different kettle of fish. I will post a few pics when I get around to it. The board reminds me of a monster truck with them on. Given the size, I was wondering whether they might be less responsive but that hasn't been my experience at all. They're perfect for nice big carves on medium gradient slopes, or for just getting from A to B through traffic and pedestrians. I live in NYC, so that's about all I need them for. In addition, whereas sometimes I had been experiencing a little bit of slide on certain hills with my old wheels, the Big Zigs just completely eliminated that. They're smoother, faster, and have provided a noticeably better skating experience. They're also extremely stable, and would be helpful for people just beginning longboarding. And lest I haven't been clear, noticeable extra MPH going down hills!
