I got some Leki (photo) carbon poles for myself and I got these for my spouse. The Leki came with rubber tips, and you would think that the Black Diamond would as well - well NOT. You have to order them separately at 6.50 each at Amazon or 4.50 at REI. Why would you not include the rubber tips?????? They can not add much more to the price? Why make such a necessary item an add on? You really can not use the carbide tips on granite stairs, concrete, (too much vibration) or even a wooden deck at a visitor center without causing damage. The cost is inconsequential.The locking lever on the BD is poorly designed. The lever is made of a poor material that lacks rigidity. It take quite an effort to lock in place, and the lever bends like it is going to break. The Leki opens and locks quickly making it so easy to adjust as you go from downhill to uphill which can happen quite often depending on the terrain. Because of the mechanism, I can not recommend the poles.The Black Diamond pole at the circumference has an oblong shape. The Leki is round. The Black Diamond rattles or vibrates more than than the Leki. The vibration can lead to some extra and unnecessary fatigue. I am not sure this is a design issue or not but I thought I would mention it. The grips on the BD are nice and the contours are fitting.These carbon poles are expensive. I wish they came with the rubber tips but the locking mechanism is too poor to recommend when I compare it with the Leki.

Very lightweight, very strong but it's carbon fiber so would you expect anything different? I used them 5 times and they work great.

I needed consistent support with walking due to balance issues. (I only use one at a time) I have been learning to walk again after a severe auto accident and these provide THE BEST support! My wrist doesn't hurt from griping the handle as I walk AND they are super light weight!!! Independence at it's best.......yipppppeeeeee! :o)
