this is a AWESOME flashlight. I use it when I walk my dogs. It throws a nice, bright, white, clean light pattern. Another plus, it is also focus-able. I also got a Nite-Ize grip and clip holder for the light. Perfect combo. If you are looking for a well made 'D' cell light...This is it!

I have been in law enforcement for nearly ten years and a firefighter for more than 15 and I've had a lot of flashlights. I've had Maglights, Surefires, Streamlights, Pelican, AE lights, and others and the P17 Lenser ranks up near the top. I usually keep a small hand held light on my belt and keep the Lenser in the car. The P17 works best for heavy duty operations. It is extremely brights and the focus option to narrow or widen the beam is very useful. I also like the momentary and on options. My only vice with it is the power option. If I had it to do over, I probably would go with the rechargable. The batteries do last awhile but three D cells aren't always cheap when they die.**BEST PLUG FOR ANY LENSER**: A rep for Lenser gave a partner of mine one of their flashlights to try. I can't remember what model it was, but I think it was smaller than the P17. They told him to try it out, beat it, drop it, throw it, and just all around abuse it. My partner took his patrol car down a 4 lane highway at about 65mph and threw his flashlight out the window at the concrete jersey wall. He went back and picked it up and it still worked perfect. It obviously had quite a few scratches and dings, but nothing was broken and the thing worked good as new. I will forever be a believer as to the durability of Lenser's lights.

I campout alot and have a bag full of flashlightsbut this is the best and the only one you will everneed. Well worth the money hands down five stars
