these glasses came when expected, and were the real thing, not some close knock off. they came with everything to protect, soft clothe cover/cleaner, and the hard case. they were a better price as well.

I will rate this glasses with one star just because they scratch so easily that you want believe... this is a second pair and first timei tought it was maybe my fault and i just don't remember when did i scratch them but know i realized that even a dust you encounter daily will scratch them.... not to mention that after they fell on wooden fluor from like 2 feet they broke and chunk size of nail from inside the glasses went flying to the fluor... god forsake that i was in car crash i wil probabbly loose my sight... worst quality shades i've ever had.... now view is impecable and design, but they are single use only, and for indor use only.. will never buy them again that's what i am sure in...

I have worn Aviators for years. Aviators offer an unobstructed, undistorted view, and provide protection from the sun and other hazards, to a large part of the face. Vision and protection are the main reason I wear Aviators. Increased comfort and vision are why they have been adapted for driving. What attracted me to Maui Jim Pilot, Aviator, Navigator, State Trooper, type frames, is the semi-rimless lens. The stainless steel frame is recessed into the eyeglass rim, like no other Aviators that I have ever seen.FramesMaui Jim Pilots come with single color polarized lens. They are typically used only outdoors and are ideal to wear on a sunlit beach or snow-covered slope. They are too dark to use at night, inside, or anywhere that you have rapidity changing brightness conditions. Maui Jim makes a low light lens, as well as real dark. These are a solid heavy pair of sunglasses. Only Maui Jims wearers are wealthy enough to use something so trivial that they can be worn only a few hours a day in bright sunlight. Maybe that is why so many people wear them.Single color dark sunglasses lens are not safe for all driving conditions. When driving from bright sunlight into darkness, a driver wearing single color dark lenses may be temporary blinded, which reduces the time a driver has to react in an unexpected "see-and-avoid" traffic situation.Polarized LensMaui Jim polarized lens cut glare and haze when driving so that your eyes are more comfortable and you can see better. They can reduce glare, from long, flat surfaces like the hood of your car, or the road's surface. Boaters, golfers, and joggers will benefit from polarized sunglasses. Bikers who wear a full-face shield should know that face shield stress marks would show up and interfere with vision. Skiers should know by eliminating reflected glare, they mask ice patches on the slopes.Polarizing makes it impossible to see sheet ice on the road, but what would they know about that on Maui. Pilots look great, feel great, and in general get the job done.Polarized lenses are an excellent driving accessory. It is important to get maximum protection from blinding glare, and only polarized lenses can do this. With the addition of transitional properties, drivers enjoy a clearer view along with the elimination of most glares when moving in and out of the sun.Prescription lensesMaui Jims are Rx, which means that we can have made by anyone to our own specs to overcome the limitations of lens with a constant light filter. Vision insurance provides progressive lenses with photochromics, that can change color triggered by both visible, and UV light.Drivewear lenses self adjust with changing light conditions, helping to enhance visual performance and the driving experience by automatically changing their degree of darkness and color. You can test the changingness of your lens by draping a business card over part of one of the lens in the dark, then exposing the lenses to sun, and or visible light.Photochromic lensesMaui Jim does not offer transitional lens. Not just on Pilots but on any pair of Maui Jim sunglasses. Like any true outdoor only sunglass lens, Maui Jim, even in prescription Rx, stay dark all of the time.With changing weather conditions, the need to spot hazards, processing the speed and direction of other cars, and recognizing traffic signals and signs. Pilot's prescriptions, can be had with polarized photochromic lenses fitted, to bring to the eye, the best contrast in the varying light conditions, as well as blocking out dangerous glare and haze.Having Drivewear prescription lens installed in your Maui Jims frames allows up to 37% of the light at low lighting conditions to get in. The most visible light from Maui Jim low light single color lens, are equivalent to the 25% middle transition of the Drivewear lens. Both the darker Maui Jim lens, and the Drivewear lens, pass 10% of the light for maximum sunlight conditions. This means that the Drivewear lens starts like the dark Maui Jims with the top down, it gets lighter like the low light Maui Jims with the top up, and continues to lighten for indoor, computer and nighttime use.Night DrivingOn dark unlit roads the best thing for night driving is no tint at all. But on streetlight lit roads especially in the rain. Polarized lens with an anti-reflective coating on the inside makes things appear clearer. This is easy for you to test. While driving on familiar routes, occasionally lift your glasses and you can see the difference. Most of the useful light is still there, it is the reflected scattered light, rings around approaching headlights etc. that polarization dims. This means that if these are the only prescription glasses with you, you can still drive home safely with caution.Computer screensAlthough the name Pilots implies use in planes, polarized lenses cannot be used in airplanes with thick laminated windshields, it masks the reflections coming off other air traffic, making it harder to spot other airplanes. The Drivewear lens works fine on the Apple iMac screen but on the LED Cinema Display like many LCD displays and GPS receivers, they mask the screen making them harder to read unless seen at an angle. If these are the only prescription glasses with you, you can still read a computer screen if you tilt your head like the guy in CSI Miami.Frame evolutionThe thing with prescription frames is that they are generally rectangle and flat. Where a good set of designer glasses like all things in nature, are all curves, and wrap arounds. The Pilot nose pad brackets are an improvement on the traditional Aviators nose pads. The open nose pad brackets are easy to keep clean, and adjusted.A lot of the cost of the Maui Jim sunglasses is in the excellent lenses, which unfortunately must be discarded when you use changables. Maui Jims do not sell the frames separately.Maui Jim makes glasses that fit average size faces, only worn the way they want you to wear them. If like many of the baby boomers you like to wear your glasses further away from your eyes, out on your nose, you may find the skull temple guides too short.
