I got one of these packs for each of my dogs. I chose this pack over others because the harness supporting the pack looks like it would really adjust well and hold the pack in place (most dog packs I've seen will gradually slide over to one side of the dog, causing the bags to drag on the ground and making it uncomfortable for the dog). I also like that the pack size is in proportion to the harness; some packs seem like they would be too big and heavy, when filled, for the dog carrying them. The packs are also centered over the dog's shoulders rather than back, which makes me feel a little better for my shepherds with their long backs.The pack performs pretty well. The material is durable and water-resistant. It looks nice on the dog. It does still have a tendency to slide over to one side if the straps are not cinched down tight enough. I like that it has a handle you can use to pick your dog up- I have used it to help my dog come down from steep rocky areas without hurting herself. It also has two attachment rings- one for the leash and another to attach a tow line so your dog can drag/pull equipment if needed.Some things that are missing on this pack- no inside pockets! It would be nice to have compartments inside for water bottles, poop bags, etc.It is also not possible to remove the packs from the harness; they are permanently attached. If those things are important to you, get the "Palisades" pack. It has both of those features and is only a little more expensive.

I bought this pack for my very active Rottweiler. It fits well, has the proper protective padding and doesn't shift around on the dog. It makes life easier in two ways: (1) allows the dog to carry my supplies and (2) gives my dog a "job" which, being a working breed, she craves.I recommend this product over cheaper versions. As the saying goes "you get what you pay for".

I bought this pack for my trail dog Tucker, a few weeks back. We did a 10 mile test hike a few days ago, and found it trail worthy in every way. Tucker is a Tennessee Ridge Runner, (Lab/Shepherd mix) in the 50+lb range. We bought a medium in size, and found that after adjusting it per directions provided, it was the perfect size and fit, not slipping or moving around during the hike. We hiked on old logging and hunting trails, climbing over rocks and I even let him take off through thick brush. I used the leash hold attachment on the top of the backpack and found it stable and did not pull the pack one way or another that it might shift his load as he sniffed from one side of the trail to the other. I loaded the pack with two 25oz stainless water bottles, and his collapsible dog bowls separated and balanced, one to each side. Tucker did not seem to pay any attention to having a pack on his back during the leash or unleashed hiking experience. The pack seems well designed, rugged, fit well and did not make the dog uncomfortable at any time on the trail. I would recommend this for day hikes or overnight outdoor adventures with your dog without reservation. We are gearing up and training for our Cumberland Trail hike this spring and this seems to be the right dog backpack for us.
